Our View From the Sidelines

Our relationship with most buyers goes far beyond product. People pick our brains about coaching soccer, team management, soccer products we don't sell and everything in-between. This is the view from the sidelines after standing and watching for oh, so long.
An Un-Olympic Spirit?

I'm disheartened that sports has come to a point where the business  aspects over-ride conventional wisdom. I'm talking about owners trying to keep players from competing for their respective countries at the Olympics. In a flat world, players have come to play and work anywhere. I think their respective employers should release them to participate in the Olympics. If we don't have the "gentility" to world together on the Olympics, what do we have left?

The point is that Barca, a Spanish team, won their appeal with Court of Arbitration for Sport to keep Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi  out of the Olympics - read the BBC Sports article.

Mark Cuban has also been outspoken about this issue. Read his many blog entries on the Olympics. And, don't get me wrong. I love Mark Cuban and I hope he gets the Cubs. I think he always brings a unique perspective - to just about anything. I just happen to disagree with him on this one.

I guess I'm just disappointed that business endeavors trump the spirit of competition throughout the world. Give me a break! It's the Olympics! They used to stop wars to respect the spirit of the competition.

Here is the schedule of the Men's and Women's Soccer Teams.

USA-USA-USA!
