Soccer
balls are available in two qualities:
training balls and
game balls. Training or
practice balls are everyday balls used for training whereas game balls are
used solely for games. While the weight and dimensions of the balls are the
same between the balls, the difference is in the materials and the quality
of the workmanship. The size of the ball is determined by age. Under 8
players use a size 3, U9 to U12 use a size 4 and over 12 use a size 5. The
significant in ball sizes is that the balls become slightly larger and
heavier as the player increases in age.
We believe that teams should use
quality practice balls for training to closer simulate game conditions.
Cheap soccer balls normally result in balls that do not respond well to
kicking or heading (called playability) and can hurt because the ball does
not rebound well. We recommend hand-stitched balls with PVC outer casings
for practice balls as these balls provide the proper mix of durability and
playability.
Game balls focus on playability
thereby higher-quality materials and construction take center stage. These
hand-stitched balls have PU casings, with higher quality linings to ensure a
proper rebound when a player kicks the ball. With an efficient transfer of
energy, these balls feel "softer" and more lively to soccer players.
